2.1.3 Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry (OFDR)
The optical frequency-domain reflectometry (OFDR) technique is similar to the optical time- domain reflectometry (OTDR), giving information on the reflectivity of the component (See dashed square 2 in Fig. 2.3) under test.
The OFDR analyzes the beat signal produced by the optical interference between a fixed reference reflection called local oscillator (LO) reflection and the reflection from the device under test.
